Description of the flag

Ieper (35,000 inhabitants) is the capital city of the arrondissement of Ieper. Ieper was an important medieval town, but was completely destroyed during the First World War.

The flag is: Argent, a cross of Lorraine Gules. Proportions are 2:3. The double cross is the oldest symbol of the town, but its origin is unknown.

The flag was adopted on 1 March 1988.
