About the Flag of Guaíra

The page on symbols at the city website contains an etymology of the name (from the Guarani word kwayra, meaning "a hiding place, a hard to reach or impassable place") but no background on the flag or coat of arms. The flag is blue with a horizontal band of red-yellow-red across the center and a yellow triangle in the hoist bearing the municipal coat of arms. The old coat of arms also appears on this page, showing the once great Guaíra Falls; the new coat of arms appears to depict the dam that destroyed them.
