About the Flag of Pinhalão
The upper field of the coat of arms is blue, symbolizing harmony, wisdom,
lucidity, intellectuality, and so on. In dexter and sinister chief, two pine
trees, symbols of the state and the municipality, in black, the color signifying
benignancy, wealth, and solidarity. On the center of the blue field, a silver
fleur-de-lis, symbolizing the Christian faith of our people, Our Lady. The base
of the shield, is gold, cut by a river, the Ribeirão Grande in blue. Gold
symbolizes the wealth that the soil provides to us. The plow is the
traditional symbol of agricultural labor, and its red color signifies
arduous struggle… The supporters are branches of coffee on the
dexter side and stalks of maize on the sinister, both covered with fruits
and flowers to symbolize an abundant harvest. The scroll is inscribed with the
name of the city flanked by the date of the municipality's creation,
14/11 [14 November] on the dexter side and the year on the sinister.
