About the Flag of Salto

The flag was instituted by law 585 of 28 December 1968. It is a blue-white-blue vertical triband with the municipal coat of arms on the center. The coat of arms was adopted by law 550 of 28 December 1967. The first quarter shows a cross, anchor, and heart in white on a red field. The second is also red, with a cogwheel surmounting a caduceus. The base is blue, with a bar wavy bearing three swimming fish, and above it three white birds in flight. The motto is Labor omnia vincit, "Work conquers all."
