The Santos flag is a white rectangle with the Santos coat of arms at the center. Beneath the coat of arms, there's a motto in Latin, Patriam charitatem et libertatem docui means "To the homeland I taught charity and liberty." The flag of the city of Santos was changed last December. The flag is the same white rectangle, but the coat of arms has been corrected. The old coat of arms had several mistakes:

The wall [mural crown] was yellow and had only three gates
The border of the shield was grey and its base was in "V" shape (French style)
The coffee branches were badly drawn
The caduceus was grey, too small and badly drawn
The globe was grey and had too many bars
The yellow-green band wasn't at 45 degrees of inclination
The scroll was grey and its words were in red.

The new coat of arms is totally correct: the wall [mural crown] is grey and has five gates; the border of the shield is gold-yellow and its basis is in a "U" shape (Portuguese style); the coffee branches are well drawn; the caduceus is golden-yellow and big and very well-drawn; the globe is golden-yellow and has the correct number of bars; the yellow-green band is at 45 degrees of inclination; and the scroll is red with the words in golden-yellow.
