Adopted 1986
The concept of the flag was originated by Maria do Rosário Diz, winner of a
competition sponsored by the municipal government, modified by the panel of
judges, and adopted by law no. 1717/86. It is blue with a white stripe at
the hoist. Superimposed on the junction of the white and blue sections is
an anhuma in bird flight displayed above three indented bars, all counterchanged.
The flag is 14 units hoist by 20 fly; the anhuma is 7 units high and the
bars are each 0.8 units wide by 8 units long.
