Background on the Cabanagem Revolt (1835-1840)

A revolt occurred in Pará on 7 January 1835, headed by a man named Malcher (who proclaimed himself president) and another named Francisco Vinagre (who then became president a few weeks later). The movement was known as the Revolução do Cabanagem and led to the proclamation of the "Republic of Pará." In 1836 the states of Amazonas and Maranhão joined the revolt, and the second Equatorial Confederation was formed. In the same year the Brazilian army restored control over Maranhão and Pará, and in 1840 over Amazonas. I'm not sure of the flags used. I read about several proposals, but the oficial design is unsure. Carlos Noronha is researching the flag.
