Nicolet (Quebec)

I saw a table flag version in the Nicolet convent in the Summer of 1997 and the arms are described in Ian Campbell, The Identifying Symbols of Canadian Municipal Institutions, Waterloo, 1990. Translation:

The pines evoke the imposing pines that once covered the entire territory. The book and ink recalls teaching and culture that have characterized the city since the beginning. The mechanical wheels represent local industry that has developed throughout the city's history. The city with several bell towers mounted with a miter and over a river signify that Nicolet is an episcopal city with several religious institutions and is located on the river bearing the same name. The arms on the flag were created and realized by local architect David Deshaies, in 1943, following a request of Arthur Martin, then mayor of Nicolet.
