Tuktoyaktuk (also spelt Tuktuujaartuq, meaning "(looks like a caribou"), with a population of 943 (as of 1996), is located at 69°27'N lat. and 133°02'W long., on Kugmallit Bay, near the Mackenzie River Delta. Local languages are Inuvialuktun and English, and the community belongs to the electoral district of Nunakput and to land claim area of Inuvialuit.
