I came across a story in the Toronto Star on April 19th, which pictured the black Canadian flag variant. The original photo caption was:

Lacie Dorsey, 17, from Sir Sandford Fleming Academy, waves a "black" Canadian flag outside Convocation Hall at U of T yesterday at the "Young, Gifted and Black" conference for high-school students.
