Cameroun Shipping Lines, S.A., Douala - horizontal VYV flag; in center red "C" in the form of a shrimp (or a shrimp in the for of a "C"). Image after Brown's Flags and Funnels of Shipping Companies of the World, compiled by J.L. Loughran, Glasgow, 1995 [lgr95].

Which is canting: "Cameroun" comes from mt. Cameroun, which in turn is originally Portuguese "Monte dos Camarões" (= mt. of shrimps).
António Martins-Tuválkin, 10 January 20065

Cameroon Shipping Lines, aka CAMSHIP, was created in 1974 during the First Republic of Cameroon (A960-1982), with the purchase of six cargo ships. CAMSHIP and the Council of Charterers were later restructured. CAMSHIP was privatized in 1999 following recommendations by the World Bank.
