I received an old book, "Chinese Communism" by Robert C. North that was published in 1966. On the cover is what appears to be a Chinese Soviet Republic flag but without any explanation in the book.

I am not a Chinese but can read to some extent Chinese characters. "Fight bravely against your enemy to defeat them" written in upper part and "Chinese Soviet Army 25th Battalion 3-1 Branches" on fly.

So it looks like an Army flag.
