Benátky nad Jizerou flag

[Benátky nad Jizerou flag] by Blas Delgado Ortiz, 22 Mar 2002, after image by Peter Exner; flag adopted 3 Apr 1996

Benátky nad Jizerou town, District Mladá Boleslav: much better image of Benátky flag you can see on www.benatky.cz . Golden grapevine on flag and in Arms - this is Arms of Lord of Dražice (z Dražic). Two members of this Noble Family were Archbishops of Prague, while Arnošt z Pardubic, member of above mentioned Family of Stará and Pardubice was in 14. Cent.
the very first Archbishop of Prague. There is another escutcheon in the Town Arms - Black with golden basilisk. This figure, rarely used in our heraldry, is Emblem of Lord (later Baron) Vražda of Kunvald.
