Gesellschaft für Sport und Technik (...) operated a couple of training ships on coastal waters and on the Baltic Sea, using the flag of their organization as house flag.

Description

Illustrated in Oliver 1993, p. 82.

Norman Martin, February 1998

A red flag with GST symbol in center. The symbol showed a vertical anchor with crossed propeller and rifle, all in grey, surrounded by a circular figure, the top half a yellow half wreath, the bottom half a black half-cogwheel with the yellow letters 'GESELLSCHAFT FÜR SPORT UND TECHNIK'. The flag was flown at parades and in GST-camps. Unlike Jaume Ollé's original image, the GST-symbol is oval not round. Source: German Democratic Republic propaganda website (image here).
