Other Uckermark pages:
Flag adopted 8 Nov 1995, according to Dirk Schönberger's Administrative
Divisions of the World website. From Ralf Hartemink's International
Civic Arms website: The arms were granted on 8 Nov 1995. The city wall
and church represent the impressive churches in Prenzlau and Angermünde,
as well as the formerly many monasteries in the district. The area was
a border area and many forts were established in the district in the Middle
Ages. The two small shields show the arms of Brandenburg
(eagle) and Pommern (griffin), as the
area historically belonged to these tow States. The wavy bars represent
the Oder, Randow and Ucker rivers in the district.
Literature: Linder and Olzog 1996.
