The arms are identical to the arms of the former district of Ulm. The
arms were reconfirmed on 5 Nov 1975.
Literature : Linder and Olzog, 1996.
The arms were granted on 24 May 1954.
The eagle is derived from the arms of the old Imperial city of Ulm.
The breast-shield shows the combined arms of Württemberg and Burgau. A
large part of the
district historically belonged to Württemberg (deer antlers) and another
to the (Austrian) county of Burgau.
Literature : Stadler, K. : Deutsche Wappen - Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
Angelsachsen Verlag, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
