Description

Herzberg is the seat of Elbe-Elster county in the southwest of Brandenburg with slightly less than 10,000 inhabitants. The colours of the flag, white-green-yellow, are not derived from the arms. Possibly white and green are for Saxony to which the city belonged until 1815, and green and yellow for the Fläming region. Source: Günther 1995 (Erwin Günther, Ostdeutsche Stadtflaggen (1): Land Brandenburg, in Der Flaggenkurier, no. 1, 1995).
