Introduction

[Anhalt was a] small former German Duchy on [the River] Elbe southwest of Berlin. (...) It became a republic after World War One. After World War Two, was combined with the former Prussian Province of Saxony to become the state (Land) of Sachsen-Anhalt (abolished [1952], but then later re-established [1991]).

Mistaken Flag

There is a weird 'former Saxony-Anhalt flag' showing the Saxon colours with the Saxony-Anhalt 1948-1952 arms at this flagmaker's webpage.

Santiago Dotor, 13 March 2001
