Germanischer Lloyd

Germanischer Lloyd is a worldwide operating ship-rating company offering also technical support. The company has about 4400 employees in more than 200 locations worldwide. The HQ is at Vorsetzen 36 in Hamburg.
Description of flag: The ratio is probably 3:5. It is a light blue flag with the logo of the company in the centre of flag.
Description of logo: In a white circle on blue background is a rising sun over a calm sea. In front of the sun an anchor and a caduceus are crossed. On the upper edge the name of the company is written. At the bottom there is a number “1867”.
Meaning: Rising sun is a positive symbol, the calm sea is associated with security. The anchor is representing navigation and finally the caduceus as the symbol of ancient god  Mercury/Hermes is symbolizing trade and commerce.
Source: I spotted this flag on 13 March 2007 on top of companies HQ.
You might see better the logo on table flag spotted on 28 May 2004.

The seal is renderded slightly differently on the two flags, most observable in the number of solar rays, the alcove over the date and the style of the anchor. I've used the image here, and a photo at a wall plaque at this webpage.

Adding my two cents to Klaus-Michael’s message – for some reason Germanischer Lloyd also issued a white table flag with the emblem in dark blue.
Image based on German eBay: offer no. 160171546303 (end 28 Oct 2007) put up by “maiti35”.
Is this version relevant?  The flag flying on the company seat is the blue one, as seen here (clickable image on Dutch Wiki page). The present mark or symbol was WIPO registered in 2003 and valid till 2013.

Note that this is the more complicated seal.
