"BANDERA - No se sabe a ciencia cierta cual fue el origen de
la bandera de la Fuerza Terrestre, por eso su historia se remite
a un documento que data del año de 1812 y que se refiere a un
informe de las armas y peltrechos que tomó el ejército realista
de las tropas patriotas luego de derrotarlas en San Antonio de
Ibarra.
Textualmente, el documento dice así: "Una bandera de
tafetán encarnado, con aspa blanca"; de acuerdo a la
definición del diccionario idiomático, encarnado significa
color rojo.
Desde entonces el ejército adoptó esta bandera como suya y fue
oficializada en 1954 junto al escudo e himno y se ha mantenido
hasta la fecha."
