There is a book about all the cantonal flags and arms of Azuay
(Banderas y Escudos de los Cantones del Azuay). The provincial Coat of Arms has the old flag of Azuay.

W. Smith in 1975 and also my sources reported a white over red
flag. However, this is incorrect, but it is possible that there
was a flag change. The red over yellow version was reported in
the 1980 Smith's book, but was marked as unsure.
