Adopted: 1 June 1995. Prop:. 7:11. Koeru is a rural municipality (vald) in Jarvamaa County (Maakond).

Koeru vald - Green fir refers to the nature reserve. Dogs are connected with the name of municipality (Estonian koer is dog). Waves refer to the Vainjärv lake. It is biggest in Järvamaa.
