Adopted: 14 September 1994. Ratio: 1:1. Paistu is a rural municipality (vald) in Viljandimaa County (maakond).

Black is the color from Estonian flag and color of Virgin Maria. Big oak symbolizes strong national and cultural movement. Star is the symbol of light and education and refers to the church of Paistu.
