The flag is purple, and has the municipal arms in the center. This arms represents the imperial arms of Charles I, as used in 1520. The municipality adopted this arms in 1864, as a privilege granted by the King to commemorate the (first) landing of the emperor's ship in Spain, at the coast of Villaviciosa.
