Saint-Witz is located 10 kms north of the Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle
airport and 2 kms east of the A1 (Paris-Lille) highway, with an access
road to the highway. The city is one of the 11 members of the
Communauté de Communes Roissy-Porte de France. It is indeed located on
the border of the former pays de France, the first nucleus of
Ile-de-France and France.
Witz is a Germanic name (Witzo), probably derived from the root *wit, wood.
The location of the city makes of it a pleasant place to stay, which might explain why Saint-Witz, according to official statistics (INSEE) has one of the highest assessed per capita incomes in Ile-de-France. It is also the place where the chain Mercure, now owned by group Accor, opened its first hotel in 1973. The fantastic Dutch writer Hella S. Haasse (b. 1918) lived in Saint-Witz from 1981 to 1990.

The flag of Saint-Witz, as reported by Arnaud Leroy, is white with a stylized representation of the coat of arms, surmonted by "Ville de Saint-Witz" and surmonting "Val d'Oise", the name of the department) in black.
The stylized coat of arms is quartered by a white cross, I three fleurs de lys white on blue (a "stylization" of the coat of arms of Ile-de-France), II a white statue of the Blessed Virgin and Baby Jesus on green (probably a reference to a local pilgrimage place), III a white wind mill on green (wind mills were indeed common in the area, a lot of them were destroyed by the Prussians in 1870), IV a green tree on blue. The coat of arms is surmonted by a white crowned outlined in black.
