Sveti Martin na Muri is the northermost municipality in the County and in Croatia, as well, located few kilometers east of Mursko Središće and some 20 km north of Čakovec. There are almost 3,000 inhabitants in the municipality, though the main settlement of the same name has hardly over 500 inhabitants.

The symbols of Sveti Martin are shown in the local newspaper Međimurske novine (Sveti Marin na Muri, 30 January 2002; Sveti Marin na Muri: Ulice dobivaju nazive, 22 May 2002; Spremni za Martinje i vinsku cestu, 24 October 2002; Blagoslovljeni novi općinski grb i barjak, 13 November 2002).

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, Burgundy red with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms is "Gules a goose argent beaked and membered or carrying in beak a bunch of grapes also or leaved vert and in base a bar wavy argent".
The wavy line no doubt represents river Mura, while the other charges stand for the traditional products of the municipality.
