Ružic' is a community in the Šibenik-Knin County, 30
km inlands, northeast of Šibenik.
1,800 inhabitants, only 250 in the village of the same name.
Almost exclusivly Croat populated region surrounded with Serb
villages suffered much in 1990's. The most well known site in the
community is the village of Otavice, the birth place of Ivan
Meštrovic, a great Croatian sculptor, who built a mausoleum
for his family there. The mausoleum was much devastated in the
war 1990's. The seat of administration is the community is in the
village Gradac, 2 km east of Ružic.

14/02, 20.11.2002. - The decision determines the Coat of Arms and
the flag of Ružic. The Coat of Arms is: vert a mausoleum or.
The mausoleum is the one of the Meštrovic' family in
Otavice, built by the famous artist and is dominating the field
that covers the territory of the community. The decision explains
the symbolic of colours: green stands for the Petrovo Polje
(Peter's Field) covering the teritory of the community, and
golden-yellow is for the wheat, the main agricultural product.

golden- yellow

years earlier, word for word. I guess, they forgot they already
issued it.
-The act of the Ministry of Justice, Administration and Local
Self- Government, kl. UP/I-017-01/02-01/0033,urbr.
514-09-01-03-3, approves the decision. It may be interesting to
mention that the acts of Ministry for Ružic and Pirovac are dated on the same day.
Presumably these decisions are made in "batches" when
the appropriate commission have sessions.
The second decision above has not been issued previously although
it was adopted on the same day two years previously. Željko
