HaHistadrut (The Federation, as it called in short)
is the biggest workers union in Israel. It was established in
Haifa in 1920 as HaHistadrut HaKlalit Shel HaOvdim HaIvrim
BeEretz-Yisrael (The General Federation of the Hebrew
Workers in Israel-land), later changed to HaHistadrut
HaKlalit Shel HaOvdim BeYisrael (The General Federation of
the Workers in Israel) and again changed its name in the early
1990s to Histadrut HaOvdim HaKllit HaHadasha (The New
Workers' General Federation) and with this change all former
socialist-type symbols and the red flag became obsolete, adopting
a new logo (stylized flower) and a new flag which is white with
the emblem.
