While searching through the newspapers available on the
Internet Public Library, I came across an illisatration and
possible flag (the illustration is on a rectangular field) of the
town of Merano, Italy, as featured on the Homepage of today's
edition of the Italian newspaper Alto Adige.

Meran (in German)/ Merano (in Italian) is a city in Südtirol
(South Tyrol)/Alto Adige. The arms is shown and described in [hye01]: "Argent, an embattled
wall (city wall) with three ports proper (grey) issuant from the
base, behind the wall the Tyrolian eagle."
The statute of Meran <www.comune.merano.bz.it>
only mentions the arms (used since 1974 in this form) and the
gonfalone (ceremonial banner) granted in 1928. It doesn't
mention, how arms and gonfalone look like. It doesn't mention the
city colours, either, which could mean that there are no city
colours (they aren't mentioned in [hye01],
either).
