Zenit agency (27 April 2005 <www.catholique.org>
) gives a detailed report of the first general audience given by
Pope Benedict XVI on 27 April on St. Peter's Square in Rome.
Among the 15,000 participants to the ceremony, 1,000 came from
the diocese of Nursia, where St. Benedict came from. After his
election, the Pope explained the choice of his name as a
reference to St. Benedict and Pope Benedict XV. When the Pope
saluted St. Benedict, "the flag of Nursia was frenetically
waved over the crowd".
There is no report about the design of the flag of Nursia.
