Nozomi Kariyasu, 10 December 2005
The emblem is a stylised hiragana i い, forming a circle. The central white part (blue on the flag) represents Bandai-san (a mountain) and the lower black part (white on the flag) represents Lake Inawashiro. The circle symbolises unity and the smooth development/growth of the town government.
The emblem's centre is positioned 5/11 of the hoist from the top and 4/10
of the length from the hoist.
