About the flag

The provincial flags of 1968-1976 are of a uniform pattern. Each is square with the arms of the province surmounted by a red schwenkel bearing a green pentagram, representing the national flag.
Jens Pattke, 13 Jun 2001

The quarterly shield has a gold sun on blue in the first quarter; a silver camel over a gold camel on a red bend against a gold background in the second quarter; a white palm tree rising from a gold base against a red field in the third quarter and, on a blue field, a silver voided lozenge interlaced with a gold saltire in the fourth quarter.
