Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Heraldry website shows the coat-of-arms of Mġarr and says, "The new arms shows a trilithon, a symbol of the neolithic temples found near Mġarr".

Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Heraldry website shows the former coat-of-arms of Mġarr, Azure a cartwheel Or, which would imply a blue flag with a yellow cartwheel as the former flag of Mġarr.
