City and port in East of Mexico (Tamaulipas),
in the Panuco River shores, near the Gulf of Mexico. Tampico is an
important oil center with oleoducts and refineries. Industries: fishing,
mechanical, textil, food, metal-mechanics.
Tampico forms a single metropolis with Madero, and Altamira, counting up
about 272,000 inhabitants.

Tampico,
Tamaulipas
was part of the Departamento del Golfo. Its registration
flag used about 1923 consisted on a blue field with a white Saltire,
very closed to that of Scotland.
