Population (1 Jan 2003): 32.862; area: 34,03 km²; settlements: Sneek (seat), Loënga, Offingawier, Ysbrechtum.
Sneek/Snits is one of the eleven Frisian towns; it has remained a separate municipality and it is the main center of the Frisian lakes.
The flag was adopted 13 September 1956 and is derived from the municipal CoA.
