Description: "In gold a red, steep-roofed manorgate with in chief a
silver fleur-de-lis; over all a narrowed blue crossbar".
The gate represents the main building of Waaxens, the "poarte"
of the Sjûksma state (manor), with in top a fleu-de-lis from
the Sjûksma family. It is very close to the main road, running from
Dokkum to Holwerd - that road is represented by the blue bar, right diagonal
tot refer to Westdongeradeel. Gold has been chosen for esthetic reasons.
