Ysbrechtum village flag

The flag of Ysbrechtum was designed in 1976 by the Fryske Rie foar de Heraldyk, at the request of village interest societey Doarpsrounte: Red with a blue hoist triangle with a bordering yellow gaff with arms 1/4th as wide as the flag height, and on the blue a yellow fleur-de-lys.
The flag can be seen as the village map, with the three roads leading to Nijland, Scharnegoutum and Sneek, and the quarters between those roads geographically red for built-up areas, except for the noble blue to represent Epemastate between the roads to Nijland and Sneek. But in the Ysbrechtum arms the gaff also forms a 'Y' for 'Ysbrechtum', with its gold colour refering to the Burmania family. The yellow fleur-the-lys on a blue background refers to Wymbritseradiel, the municipality Ysbrechtum was part of at the time the flag was designed.
Design: J.C. Terluin.
