Borculo former municipality
Number of inhabtitants (1 Jan 2003): 10.416; area: 55,88 km². Settlements:
Borculo (seat), Geesteren, Gelselaar, Haarlo.
Borculo is in northeast Gelderland. The hooks on the flag (and CoA)
refer probably to the use of grappling-irons in the shipping on the river
Berkel (recently restored to a bit of its former glory). The three disks
are from the family CoA of the former lords of Borculo.
Since 1 Jan 2005 Borculo is part of the new municipality of Berkelland.
