Brunssum municipality
Number of inhabitants: 29.944; area: 17,30 km². Settlements: Brunssum
(seat), Treebeek.
Brunssum is in south Limburg, c. 30 km northeast of Maastricht. It
was an old mining town, now the seat of the Middle European NATO HQ. (AFNORTH,
formerly AFCENT).
This flag was unofficially used with a relatively bigger CoA before
the present one was adopted. The right part of the CoA are the arms of
the former lords of Brunssum, while the left part is occupied by the patron
saint of Brunssum, Gregory the Great.
