On 1 Jan 2004 Naaldwijk merged with De Lier, ´s-Gravenzande, Monster en Wateringen, to form the new municipality of Westland.
Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 28.772; area: 25,33 km². Settlements: Naaldwijk (seat), Honselersdijk, Maasdijk.
Flag: three equally wide horizontal stripes of white, red, and white, with in the center the municipal arms in gothic design with a height of two stripes.

Granted 26 Jun 1997. The Coat of Arms is derived from the arms of the Lords of Naaldwijk, who played an important part in Holland in the Middle Ages.
