De Vereeniging Zeemanscollege, Delfzijl, after Steenbergen

Zeemans-College "De Vereeniging" (College "The Union"), established in 1831 in Delfzijl. Leen Smit pictures number 27. In 1864 it was still in existence, but by 1979 it had disappeared.
Flag: Leen Smit shows Blue with a Dutch canton (ca 1/3rd of the height, 1/4th of the width). Partly below the canton a "D", which is followed by the number. Letter and number probably in white. [noh71] shows a version with a Red White Yellow canton, and just a D. On this page we show for Delfzijl an historical flag with the same colours as [noh71], but without the D and with a quarter-sized canton.
Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg, 6 Dec 2001

#790 from Steenbergen's Vlaggen van alle Natien (1870) [stb99]. Delfzyl (Netherlands) Navigation society (Is used also with black D)

De Vereeniging flag after "Zeemanshoop"

[De Vereeniging flag - Zeemanshoop] by Jarig Bakker, 15 Jul 2003

In the jubileebook of "College Zeemanshoop, 1822-1872", Amsterdam is a flagplate with for Delfzijl a blue flag with in the canton the red-white-blue Dutch flag, and a letter and cipher D4. It is obvious to see that this was not a bright idea, as the bottom stripe of the Dutch flag has exactly the same color as the main field.
