Leszno is in Leszno county. German: Lissa; c. 60 km SSW Poznan; settled by Moravians in the 16th century; became city in 1547. Center of Moravians in poland in 17th century; residence of Comenius; burned by Poles 1656 in war with Sweden; ceded to Prussia 1793; returned to Poland 1919.
