Sable, a castle tower argent, open, litten and lined sable, on a
chief or, four ears of corn grained or and leaved vert. Mural crown
with four visible towers argent and
white scroll reading "CASTRO DAIRE" in black
capitals. Flag is quartered white and
green. In my humble opinion this is one of the nicest portuguese
municipal coats of arms.

Castro Daire, also spelt "Castro d’Aire" and "Castro de Aire", is a
large sized town, capital of a municipality with 383 km2 and
17 850 inhabitants in 22 communes. It is located currently in the
Viseu district and in the traditional province
Beira Litoral.
