It is a quite typical portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms
centered on a background quarterly (meaning town
rank) of yellow and green. The coat of arms is argent above a bush crowned
vert trunked sable and fruited or a St. James
sword-cross purple between two bunches of grapes fruited of the same and
leaved of the first. Mural crown argent with four visible towers
(town rank) and white scroll reading in black
upper case letters "VILA DE MOITA".

"Moita" means "bush" in Portuguese thus these being canting arms.
