About the flag

Flag: red with coat of arms in the center. Coat of arms: argent, a palm between two pales of three castles gueules each; mural crown argent, with four visible towers (town rank); white scroll at the bottom reading in black uppercase sans serif "VILA DE VIMIOSO".
António Martins, 26 May 1998

Version without the coat of arms

Plain (monocolored) portuguese subnational flags are not allowed to have armless variations: plain flags always carry the coat of arms.
Jorge Candeias, 18 Jul 1999
