Reghin (in Hungarian Szászrégen, in German Sächsisch-Reen) is a city in Mureş County of Romania (in the valley of Mureş River in Transylvania). The city has got 35.004 inhabitants (31,8% Hungarians, 1992 census). The settlement was the town in Maros-Torda (in Rumanian Mureş-Turda) County of Hungary to 1918/1920 (Rumanian occupation/Treaty of Trianon). In 1910 the town had got 7310 inhabitants (41,0% German, 40,3% Hungarian and 17,9% Romanian). 1920-1940 the town was in Rumania in Mureş County. 1940-1944 in Hungary (after the Decision of Vienna II). After the WWII the settlement lossed its German inhabitants. The treaty of Paris reallocated it to Romania.
