The current and former flags of the Syrian Air Force are on display at the Military Museum of Damascus: ACIG article; photo

Since the older flag shows a lighter/greyer shade and the new one a brighter shade, could it be that both flags have the same color and the old one is just faded by the Sun?

António Martins-Tuválkin, 11 Jun 2007

Certainly a possibility. The reason I used different shades is that the roundel on the paler flag seems not to have faded very much – and these look like indoor flags, too, which would have limited their sun exposure.

Unknown Military Flag

This photo shows a Syrian military colour (or ceremonial flag) during a parade in the Syrian army academy (photo taken presumably in the 1970's). The flag is a horizontal triband (light-dark-light) with a device in the center and fringe around.
