The pears in the flag are certainly canting, as the name is derived from the Ukrainian word for pear.

The flag is horizontally divided. The upper field, twice higher than the lower field, is vertically divided red-green, the green stripe being twice wider than the red one, and therefore square. The red stripe is charged with a yellow wheat spike placed vertically, whereas the green square is charged with three yellow pears placed 2 + 1 with two white leaves each. The lower field is blue with four white wavy lines.

"Shield per fess and in chief per pale. In a right gules smaller field is or ear in a pale. In the left vert greater are three or pears. In the third azure field are four argent wavy fesses. The arms is edged by decorative cartouche and decorated by a rural crown. Or pears symbolize fruits from which village has received the name."

The Village

"On a place of village existed Blahodatny and Blahodativs'kyi farmes. Inhabitants of farms were engaged in gardening. It has served as an occasion for the modern name of village."

If I am not mistaken this is the village where Nikita Khrushchev originated, or at least his family. I believe he or his family Russified the orthography of their surname.
