Description of the flag

A diagonally divided blue over green flag with a sailing ship surrounded by 13 yellow stars in the upper hoist. The boundary of blue and green is interrupted by a small green peninsula extending into the blue field in the middle.

The "small green peninsula" is a stylized version of the Presque Isle peninsula, which shelters Erie harbor. Here is a satellite photo (greatly reduced) but the natural colors look eerily (pun intended) like the flag itself.
