The national agency AVI (Agence Vietnamienne d'Information) reported on 1 September 2005 that the city of Ho Chi Minh-Ville (formerly known as Saigon) was awarded that day the title of "State Heroic City" during a meeting celebrating the August Revolution (19 august) and the National Day (2 September).
The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nong Duc Manh, clipped on the Hero's badge on the traditional flag of Ho Chi Minh-Ville.
There is alas no description of the flag in the dispatch.
